Education Ministry to address CXC payment crisis at private school

Students at the Hutton's Education Unit should hear on Monday afternoon if they will be allowed to sit their CXC exams as the Ministry of Education has called a press conference in a bid to settle the fee dispute with the management of the school.
The students of the <span style="font-weight: bold">privately run facility</span> are up in arms with the management after fees they paid to sit the CXC exam was not handed over to the Barbados-based examining body.
At Monday afternoon's press conference, the Ministry is also expected to outline plans in moving forward and addressing similar situations in the future.
Scores of registered students of Hutton's who are due to sit exams in May and June this year have been in limbo as the private education institute has been having difficulty coughing up millions of dollars which it owes to CXC.
<span style="font-weight: bold">It is understood that the students have paid for the exam, but <span style="font-style: italic">most</span> of the money has not been turned over to CXC.</span>
However, the CXC says it has received neither candidate entries nor money from the institution in relation to the exams.
