So whre is that money going???

Seems the Govt is really serious about this renewing your stay every 3 months and paying right at 150.00 US to do so, then after 6 months you have to leave,,,,now is that for at least one day like it used to me, or you are limited to 6 months on the island per calendar year???

I;m wondering how this affects people who have homes there??? Anyone know how this works, not that I will be staying that long that I can anticipate.

I'll go see if I can find it for you, but I have friends there who have actually had to DO this, I didn't read about it anywhere, it's in action in Jamaica right now. If you look at all the folks living there who have to do this, this is a good amount of money for the Gvt. Also you have to go IN PERSON to Kingston or Montego Bay to do this, so add in the cost of getting there round trip from wherever you are on the Island. They ain't playing about it either, they are really enfrocing it.

Limit is 6 mos total within one calendar year.

it's for those traveling on foreign passprts, btw. Even if you live farrin, for JA'n nationals traveling on JA'n passports, it doesn't apply!

OK well we gonna discuss it here too, I missed that one......Now before I say another word, it ain't my country, and I sure can't run it......that being said....so you have this retired person, someone not taking anyone's job away from them or anything.....they are in Jamaica spending all of their money there, housing, utilities, phone, groceries, laundry fees, cable, internet, services, entertainment, dining.

So this person is taking nothing FROM the economy, but adding to it, and you wanna kick them out....ok makes sense to me duhhhhhhhhh

So what's the problem? Plenty of 'visitors' come to the US and get an expiration date on their stay. Most don't even get to stay as long as 3 or 6 months before dem hafi leave. It's about time jamaica start do sumting similar

I don't foresee being able to stay long anyway, but for those with actual HOUSES there this seems hard

Having had to investigate being outside of America and trying to get back in, I am not aware of the rules, fees, etc. I agree with you, Jamaica has the &quot;right&quot; to do whatever she chooses in this repsect.
But do you not agree that locking some productive folks out who are contributing TO the economy for 6 months might not be the brightest idea??? Just asking
