I have worked at places were the email goes out from HR and others where nothing is said. What I found out in all situations is that If that person is high on the food chain it will be communicated...Security is always the best source of information...or check if they are still in Outlook...DWL

At my current job there is a list that comes out probably once per week and next to someone fired it states &quot;NLE&quot;=No Longer Employed. However, we usually know right away, they walk you out with your belongings in a carton box. If they ever fire me, I will just picked up my purse and coat and get the stepping. I dont have anything personal at work that I need to pack besides my coffee cup.

I hate hate hate the carton box and HR walking you out. So embarassing.

you mean 'fired'? like, for cause? or laid-off?

at my (former) place of employ, when someone gets laid off, the mgrs all call meetings with their teams and make everyone know exactly a who, &amp; give the heads up if their specific department will be included in any upcoming layoffs. they make a point of advising ppl so they don't get nervous about them own job. the outside world never knows though, they just get an auto-reply if they send an e-mail, saying such-and-such e-mail address is not on the domain. layoffs don't get the humiliating walk-out, just clean out desk at their leisure, turn in badge, and go.

i got laid off exactly one hour before i left on vacation, and in my case there was no meeting; i had to keep it confidential cause Big Boss (my mgr's mgr, we had a *special* working relationship, cause my immed supervisor was an a incompetent eediat, and B.B. knew so, and her 'door' was always open) pulled a fast one with corporate, she nevah charge my large amount of borrowed vacation time against my future PTO. she coded it as 'administrative leave' so i didn't have to pay it back. cut me a huge break there, so nobody could know. so i had to leave everything on my desk like normal and the resta ppl found out somewhere around the 3rd week, when i just never returned from the vacay. until i went in to collect my things.

Funny, me would tink dat since di smaddy work on my team, me would get bombarded by IM and email asking if a true. Cause me know a dat me do when me hear sumting.
