Kia wey yuh get dat dey form fram? Mi a look pan di Census form as I type and mi noh si dat part bout Carribean <span style="font-weight: bold">Ancestary </span> That wasn't listed in my list of origins..so I guess mi can just write it in???

The irony of this is mi work for the Census Bureau and mi carry di form in to work fi get some ansas fram di people dem wey wok in di Statistics department cause mi canfuse bout dah part deh.

The goal is to get Caribbean Ancestry on the form the next time around. Please spread the word to friend and family. Please also note that if some is of Caribbean/Jamaican Ancestry they can also fill that out.

That debate ended sometime ago about why they chose those words.. based on some survey they conducted, the results showed that older black folks identified themselves as &quot;negros&quot;. Granted it is a sensitive term for the younger sector of the population but dem included it because some of the &quot;older&quot; generation still used the term to describe their race.

Den dere is blacks like ME and most yaadies mi know who doan waan call demselves African Am. So yuh have to use di work Black fi dowes people (dat a di box mi check). The Census jus waan mek sure everybady is counted and dat dem have a fair representative of &quot;races&quot; if you will, that is all inclusive.

In the US the three definitions of black represent at least three generations of terms of how blacks are represented in the US. The census wanted to cover all bases. </div></div>

So a Negro grandparent wouldn't understand what Black or African American means?

And a Black parent would be clueless when faced by boxes marked African American and Negro?

And an African American would be totally confused by boxes marked Black and Negro?

From what I hear on the streets and in music, I thought 'this generation' call themselves ngrs.

from the 2000 census dem allow you to put een all a u racial groups.

What the caribbeanID2010 project is asking is that you put in your race AND select other to state you have caribbean ancestry. Basically if dem have porto rican pon de form, den can put Caribbean pon de form too
