Negative rhetoric

Sorry. I'm not really political, but sometimes one must speak out. I am 65 yrs old. I remember the 60's in the US, when African Americans marched and died for the right to be fully enfranchised Amerikkkan citizens. We finally got Laws on the books to make us "EQUAL". 45 years later, as soon as we finally have a President who is not a WASP (white, Anglo-Saxon Protestant), the hatred and negative rhetoric spills out.

I'm not saying Obama is the Messiah. I'm not saying that I agree with all that he has attempted to do, or how he has done it. But he is the first non-white POTUS, viewed as the most powerful man in the world. If we disagree with his presence, then we should vote against him in the next election. But now, while he is in office, we should at least speak out agaist the wingnuts who are using their bigotry to incite violence.

The world is watching. And to the Canadian critics of Obama.. Where is your first non-white Chief of State? (Queen/King of England)

Dear queenb:

While it is true that Canada does have many a racist, be they mostly &quot;polite racist&quot; so to speak. Our culture and political system is vastly different than that found in the U.S..

Our version of the Republican Party, the Conservative Party, would in reality, closely resemble a middle of the road Democratic Party in the U.S.. Our Liberal party would be close to the left wing members of the Democrats and our New Democratic Party does not have anything comparable south of our border because quite frankly they would be just too gun hating, gay friendly and socialist minded to rally any support in the good old U.S. of A..

If the truth be known, I would confidently state that President Obama is probably far more popular among the Canadian population as a whole than he could ever dream of being in the country he is in charge of.

Why do poor Canadians get dragged into the U.S. madness all the while. Even the comments about our Health care system by Americans makes me cause I wonder what dang country they are talking about like they have a clue.
