I am helping a small community group advocate on behalf of undocumented immigrants to the United States. Do you know the answers to the following or do you know web links where I can find this information:
<ul style="list-style-type: disc">[*]How can undocumented immigrants prepare a binding will, and/or advanced medical directives in the U.S. and have these documents be legally honored?[*] Is there is any way for undocumented immigrants to purchase life insurance to cover the costs of a burial?[/list]

Clarify what you mean by &quot;have these documents legally honored&quot;. I'm thinking you're referring to having the documents notarised.

In any case such type documents are handled through private companies (insurance, banks, etc) and at a minimum they may require proof of identification and perhaps social security number.

For the binding will ... no immigration implication. Main thing is how they are to write such a will (naming executing, naming assets etc).

Great work you're doing Peasie.

This is an area ripe for misunderstandings and error and ever changing immigration law. ie; what's going on today, may be completely different in 1 year, 5 years, 10 years - or by the time a person dies. I strongly suggest y'all get sound legal advice from a skilled atty ...

Peasie - I saw this in the paper today and thought of you. It's a bit off topic but just speaks to the matter of how things change - and change so quickly. Hope you all can find some legal advice. This can be a very tricky matter.

Talk with an Attorney. Things are changing so much that sometimes legislation changes without us paying attention to it.
