2 women charged in Detroit bus fight

Two Detroit women face assault charges in connection with a fight on a Detroit city bus that a fellow passenger captured on his cell phone.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office has charged Devon Floyd, 19, and Ladaiye Smith, 20, with misdemeanor assault and battery for assaulting the bus' 33-year-old male driver.
The altercation — in which the women are seen beating the driver until he begins to literally kick them off the bus — occurred Tuesday at West 8 Mile Road and Chapel.
Floyd attacked the bus driver after he unknowingly closed a door on her arm, then immediately re-opened the door, according to a news release from Prosecutor Kym Worthy.
Smith is accused of joining the fray.
Detroit's Fox affiliate WJBK-TV aired the fight today.
Police arrested the women after getting their descriptions from the driver.
Police spokesman John Roach was not sure if investigators had seen the recording of the fight.
