An Air Jamaica flight attendant has been arrested and a clothing store in Liguanea, St. Andrew shut down for Customs breaches.
On Wednesday, the flight attendant was stopped and searched while clearing customs at the Sangster's International Airport in Montego Bay, St. James.
She was found with a number of undeclared items of commercial clothing and money in excess of US$10,000.
Acting on information from the arrest, Customs Enforcement Officers conducted a raid of a clothing store in Sovereign Centre, Liguanea.
No importation document could be produced to prove that duties and taxes were paid for any of the items in the store.
All items have been seized, the store has been closed and the cash in the flight attendant's possession seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
A bail application was made in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday but the prosecution objected as the flight attendant's address could not be verified.
The matter is set to be heard on Monday, April 19 in the Montego Bay RM Court
