Prime Minister Andrew Holness on Thursday morning met with Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem.

The two men discussed possibilities for cooperation in water, agriculture and domestic security.

Mr. Holness said Jamaica has long admired the advances that Israel has made in technology, in particular cyber security and agriculture.

Mr. Netanyahu said the meeting was significant as it is the first visit by a prime minister of Jamaica to Israel.

He expressed appreciation that Jamaica did not join the recent vote against Israel in the United Nations.

Mr. Netanyahu said he intends to take up Mr Holness' invitation to visit Jamaica.

I am guessing Holness did not just get up, jump on a plane & say I feel like going to Isreal. There must have been a carrot (invitation-to discuss domestic security??? (Whose domestic security, Jamaica or Isreal??? Why would Isreal want to talk about little Jamaica domestic security??? So if it is not Jamica domestic security is the focus, then whose domestic security is in focus??? Isreal??? How can Jamaica help with that???....See Cuba again) ).

I am hoping I am 100% wrong but movements make yu think.

Jamaica just chose sides. Posturing for the new Trump administration? Trump already reached out to Israel. I'm sure Trump money has been rubbing elbows with big NY Jewish money for years... all connected.
Jamaica probably just caught the eye of Issis or another extremist Muslim terrorist group with this move making them prime target for attack with American tourists being Jamaica's #1 visitor. Don't understand why PM would want to put Jamaica in such a position. More to lose then gain in my opinion.

I agree with what you just said. By the way the Holness picture kind of makes me think of a “macca-back” fish shaking hands with a shark. I am not sure Holness understands the magnitude of the conflict between Israel and the Arab world, which has been going on before he was even in diapers. Even Obama abstained from taking sides at the latest crossroads (UN resolution 2334). And who knows, Trump may just be playing what he knows are the right cards until he gets into office (like Bush did).
In any case a really clueless move by Holness to be seemingly cozying up to Netanyahu and being anything but an observer in such a wasp nest.

Nothing to see here.Israel is concerned about every vote at the UN.Israel has had some technical projects with Jamaica that has been fruitful in the past.I think Jamaica should look out for and promote it interests with countries who can help us advance.

I can’t recollect any representative of the people of Jamaica coming this close to this conflict between Israel and the Arab world. Taking pictures and shaking hands with someone who has enemies who can bring major destruction to the people of Jamaica. By this display Holness is threating to put unsuspecting Jamaican people into harm’s way. Portia and her predecessors had plenty of opportunity to do something like this and they didn’t because they were too politically astute. Unfortunately I cannot say the same thing about Holness (it’s the downside of electing a politically immature leader; we are stuck with him for a while so I hope he wakes up and changes). Obama backed away from the major crossroads these enemies are at now, and Trump as expected is beginning to do the same (see last line of article below).

Now is probably one of the worst times in history for a country the size of Jamaica to be meddling in this matter.

Jamaica could increase it’s possibly of advancement if it has a high profile relationship with Israel and there is an environment of peace and safety.
My fear however is that, if this cozy relationship catches the attention of ISIS or some other terrorist groups, Jamaica could take several steps backwards if the result is sudden destruction. These terrorist guys are not known for waving a flag and telling you that they are coming.

The majority of the Arab world is not running around targeting individual Jews for assassination. ISIL is targeting Western Civilization, including Israel. There are plenty of targets for whomever is closest to those inspired by ISIL, so even regular Jamaicans would fit this profile!
