Don't Evan you find it frustrating when you mention these mentioned these giants to many they have no idea despite claiming Jamaica ...The three that have died so far have had an inordinate impact at growing what it means to be Jamaican. Peter abrahams, NAMBO and Lindy all lifted above their size raised standards...I recall Lindy reading sports news, commentating on football..making tennis interesting,.Giving analysis on boxing...and all three were world class..

Sometimes Wahalla, I think I am an oddity...I loved our music wen others embraced everything foreign...now everybody is an expert n espouse dem deep love etc...was wrapping mi head n wearing midis .... reading Heinneman's Caribbean n African series when they were in print...scouring bookstores for Kingston Publishing books of our emerging voices while others were stuck on JUST British literature...had a friend tell me recently that I was always 'vain' n another chided her n said that my being 'different' was not 'vanity' but self-awareness n pride in our culture, even if it was new n evolving...I was Jamaican before it became in vogue for our 'circle'...Originally posted by Wahalla View PostComment
