A man is in police custody in connection with the theft of goats from Hill Top in St. Elizabeth.

A female farmer reported to the police that she had lost 20 heads of goat on Saturday.

The Black River and Pedro Plains Police, along with the farmer, went in search of the missing animals on Thursday. They visited a farm in the Shortfield community, where 16 goats were found. Four were identified as belonging to the farmer.

Further investigations led the police to the home of the man.

The police say he is also a suspect in several incidents of cattle theft.

This is one of the most widespread problems in Jamaica and worst it impacts huge numbers of people who are already the lowest on the totem pole. Unfortunately these bastards tek night and take all kinds of livestock, goat, cow, chicken dem nu partial. Maybe severe enough punishment can stem the tide.
