yes JFK is smooth, and if i had a choice i would absolutely go thru New York over entry thru <span style="font-weight: bold">any</span> FLA airport.

FL customs is always on uber-high paranoid alert for drugs etc, they way more sensitive cause there's SO many more arrivals into there from south america &amp; the caribbean, and in the twisted eyes of US customs, that means higher likliehood of drug smuggling.

of course in NY the rules are the same, and in reality you may be just as likely to get bags searched, etc, but the vibes and atmosphere 'seem' less hostile. They have loads more ppl coming into NYC from all over the world - not a majority comin thru from the caribbean/south america like in FLA. Seems like NY is too busy to be as paranoid, and thereore they may mess with you less, than if u come in thru FLA. i personally avoid connecting flights thru FLA when comin back from JA, for this very reason.
