The story highlighted the killing of Robert Hill, whose alias was Kentucky Kid, and the events leading up to his death.

Hill came to public attention after his vehicle and a police car met in an accident on Mandela Highway in St Catherine.

Before his killing, Hill had expressed fear for his life as he informed the media that he had been threatened by the police.

The Al Jazeera network, which reportedly has a viewership of nearly 40 million, also focused on a number of other questionable police killings in Jamaica.

On Wednesday, The Gleaner reported that statistics released by the Jamaica Constabulary Force revealed that up to April 25, the police had been responsible for 83 fatal shootings this year, up from 76 for the corresponding period last year.

mi would sey we should take stock <span style="font-style: italic">regardless</span> of what the outside world is writing.
There are many different what i'd call "initiators" for people.
Some neva care bout Dudus affair and the whole donmanship till merica start teck whey Visa (which i think may actaully be a good thing for many Jamaicans.. kinda wish they started this when mi did a look fimi.. anyhow)
some nuh care bout crime till smaddy fi dem is a victim, and some nuh really care bout the deterioration a Jamaica society till al jezera write bout it.
The point is, wheter al je binladin write it or not, something simply nuh right.
For me its not right, not becuse "<span style="font-style: italic">its so bad now, lawd mi nuh know whey mi ago duh. lawd woie!" </span>Its just not right case no matter how much mi think we reached the lowest of the low, we somehow seem to find a way to dig even lower... and I for the first time in my adult years, based off what I have been observing over the years, mi can actually see vision the reality of total civil unrest in Jamaica.. mi a talk Haiti style, mi a talk puppa, mumma and pickeny doc business.
..worse like how Barack obviously nuh have Jamaica pon him list a fav vacation spots...

Well is only natural that people are more concerned when they personally or their immediate family are affected. BUt for the most part, the problems of Jamaica don't make international news. There are bigger fish in the water out there that are more newsworthy and will sell more ads. So to see a major news network (Al Jazeera broadcasts to millions of people in Africa and Asia) call JA "Most Violent Society on Earth" one has to realise the implications of that.
It will negatively affect foreign investment and tourism, and make visa harder fi obtain.

Interesting how you say you'd prefer visa get lock off from before you left. In a way I agree that if you are forced to remain, you will work harder to better the country simply by bettering your situation. In theory at least. Because Jah know Jamaica cyaan handle that kind of population! After wata short already and traffic a Town mad. Not to mention jobs and services. Besides, visa restrictions will hurt a lot of families that are separated and will demoralise the society even more.

true, seems Ja has a reputation for music and culture that side a di planet, and to be tagged the most voilent society on earth when yuh have the sierra leone's civil war and blood diamond saga in africa, the genocide in rwandan and darfur, Iraq, Iran Afganistan, Pakistan, all volatiel societies, yet Al Jezebella decided to single out Jamaica as the most voilent, definately deserves at least a pause.. but the reality is that, it wont make a differnce on the ground.
For one, we Jamaicans love attention and excitement.. you ever in the mids of a demonstration, a vigilante killing or some kinda mob event yet? Having been in all while growing up, me remember clearly one thing, and that how riled up and actually jaded and almost as if possesed the people get.. almost like the more the hype, the more they get hyped.. reasoning out the door.

Mi memba as a schoola a walk from school to catch the bus downttown. Mi come down the alley that ran behind duke street.. a think a Mark Lane it name.. Rach a Mark Lane and East Queen St, a Mother's Patty right a di corner.. the chain shutter pull dun.. Wan man indeh a [censored] himself as a mob outta door a wait fi him. The mod growing larger by the second.
Mi and mi bredren dem ask what a gwaan, wi get fi understand sey they claim to have found him and another man in a abondonded building further down water ln inna sexual positions.. a run him a run a try meck it to central police station, and meade it as far as the Mothers. The manager a di mothers lock down the store when the mob come in deh pon him. Some was inside still wid him, but without the power a rest a di mob, them just did a throw cups and drinks at this bleeding frighten hombre. Mi memba the mob seem to be taking on a life a it own.... almost like people a smell blood, hear seh a "batt--yman " and the whole a Pernel Charles reach deh.. cutlass, knife, stone, bakkles..
The Manager a Mothers realizing how wicked the crowd a get seh somthing to the man, mi assume seh him told him, him gonna release him as him open the chain shutter and the hombre meck a rathid beeline dun east Queen Street as if him a try reach a central police.. the mob just swoop in pon him , soso knife, cutlass and racksones a reach him.. Him almost made it thru the crowd and a run next to a rockfort bus whey just a drive off, when the ductor hanging off the side give him whan [censored] kick as the bus passed him. Him stagger and drop as the stine and cutluss chop dem reign down pon him.
People dem leff him dead like nit.. not a sorrow.. ssoso excitement and jubilations. Not one person (mi remember seeing) had any concern fi di dead man..
Its almost like the people did a get a high off the voilence and exciutement.
Point is, who really cares? Those that do seem to be the minority, and they the ones that tend to packup and leave.
Rich Jamaica really dont care, and trust me there are some that live in the Paradise in Jamaica. Mi memba talking to a prominent Jamaica last time mi was down there and as mi a relate the incident that happened with my madda, the man meck mi know him sleep with his doors open on his property in stony hills. Albeit that its most likely one a dem privately secured community deh, thats how the well to do live and they really dont care bout the poor black people dem whey a kill off demselves.

As fi who the lack of infastructure to sustain a restricted population , maybe the lack of visa's would have stemmed the brain drain and people with the mental whereitall would have remained in the island long enough to concieve, drive and execute projects geared towards creating ample infastructure.
(for example) The agrument can be made that Jamaica nuh have watre shortage problem, just that there is not proper systems in to capture store treat and distribute the wata..
My fear fi Jamaica is that as more and more of the brain is drained and places liek the US uses the island as their dumping ground for US trained criminals, soon there will be a shift in the balance and what we seeing now will propably soon be like watching Alvin and the chipmunks..

My opinion is that the Jamaican people are no more violent than any other.

The educated ones amongst the targetted group are simply too dumb to properly anslyaethe situation And come up with an appropriate solution.

They are too mentally enslaved to consider it when it comes from any other sources but the ones That have bee brainwashed to accept.
As a result it will only get worse until the colonial masters return and reimpose overt colonialism.

The problem will be That they will lose their vaunted position in society and want the suffering masses to sacrifice to return them to it.
