How many of you drove in JA when you lived there (did test there and everything)

And how many of you learned to drive in the US but brave the wheels when you go back home? And any wild experiences on the road.

How many of you fraida fi drive there period!

Drove...had a car in JA years before migrating to the US.

A friend of mine used to say "yu drive like a man". LOL! Mi all a tek shoulder to bypass the long traffic lines heading into Portmore from any direction. LOL! Still to this day whenever I go home, I get back into the normal routine of driving in Jamaica. My sister(s) if they are travelling with me just leave the driving to me. My girlfriend always say it seem like yu neva lef JA for a minute. Then once as I'm here in the US it takes a while to break away from "Jamaica driving habits".

I find that bad driving is very relative.
Just when you thought you've seen everything, there comes someone to surprise you with their stupidity.

Was just observing the traffic here in Tripoli (Libya) from a bus heading into the city. The road look so:

Even with no traffic dem choose to drive de
line as if the purpose of line was to drive on it.
And since everybody was doing it, if you drive in
between line dem wouldagi you ticket!

Mi drive hard but mi is wan wuss when it come to driving in Jamaica. Never have and mi noh know if I will ever. Maybe wan day mi wi get di courage. A noh sey di ruff drving mi fraid fah more soh dan mi a a drive pan di wrang (odda) side a di road an goh cause accident

and i'm more afraid of driving on the &quot;wrong side&quot; of the road and turn somewhere and cause an accident. the rough driving dont bother me at all.

i might get the courage to try it next year

See de prablem wid India is one can buy a p o m - p o m thingy weh yuh fi attach to yuh veekl fi protection.

De said contraption absolves the driver from using any common sense (assuming it was common to begin with) and removes all fear that should naturally prevent people from doing things like driving the wrong way on an Interstate, backing up 2 miles cause you missed an exit. Waiting until until approaching traffic approaches before pulling out right in front of them, and making an all-lane switch before coming to a complete stop in the middle lane of a highway.

Mi drive a Jamaica back in the late eighties and mid nineties. Don't know how crazy it is now since I've haven't returned in over 12 years. One time a male passenger in the backseat referred to me as a hard driver fi a woman.

So true. In Jamaica if mi a tek time creep through a space, the driver behind or who dey pon di right or left know what I'm about and will ease back. Can't trust north american drivers with that... they don't look and don't to apply brake and don't give bly. Plus nuff a dem dey pon cellphone or texting.
