Pastor accused of drug smuggling attempt remanded

Thomas Pearson, <span style="font-weight: bold">62,</span> the Westmoreland-based pastor who was allegedly caught trying to smuggle a large quantity of ganja out of the country, was again remanded when he appeared before the Corporate Area Criminal Court Friday.
Mr. Pearson, who is unrepresented, is to tell the court on Monday whether he will be hiring an attorney.
Sanguanette Bryan, 42, who is charged jointly with Mr. Pearson, was also remanded.
The cops say they arrested Pastor Pearson at the Norman Manley International Airport with 10 pounds of ganja strapped to his body.
Pastor Pearson who is based in Darliston, Westmoreland, was nabbed while trying to board a flight to Trinidad.
The cops say the weed was strapped to his thighs.
Mr. Bryan told the police in a caution statement that Pastor Pearson gave him $85,000 to purchase the ganja and have it compressed for his trip to Trinidad.
