There is a photo of Newton during Iditarod that is entered in a National Geographic photo contest. The photo is currently in 1st place but slipped a little yesterday. Luckily, it bounced back for now. It would be so great for the photographer that captured this shot, but it would also bring great exposure to Jamaica and the Dog Sled Team!

So anyway, Lance Mackey, who Newton stayed with in Alaska and who's dog team Newton used in Iditarod, is in Jamaica at this moment with Newton and Jimmy Buffet. There is a big party from the looks of things on Facebook, a big ole celebration of the accomplished feat.

Newton's Iditarod gear is on display. I can only imagine what it is like seeing this big bunch of clothes for the first time for most of the people there..



I remember my first trip to Jamaica when we stayed in Alligator Pond, and we told stories of how cold it gets here. I said it was like living inside a freezer and some guy pops up with...

<span style="font-style: italic">&quot;what, you take me for a fool? NO MAN CAN LIVE LIKE THAT&quot;.</span>..and we all laughed hard because he had no clue. Next trip I brought him ice fishing pics.


This is cute...4 consecutive time Iditarod Champion Lance Mackey, is about to learn the Jamaican way of dog sledding!



Big fun. I sure hope the Nat Geo photo wins!!!
