When I travel to Europe and Asia the majority of times, I can't read the language, but I can understand the road signs.

They look the same in most countries.

yep i agree with dr dudd - faint weh

the signs are mostly the same

there is no way you won't know stop or yield

and the white line is always close to the driver - even if the car is left-sided

Did you realize that most foreign licences can be legally use to drive I the US?

So illegals can already legally drive if they have a license from their country.

One dies not need to Even able This read to hold a drivers license.

They have special means if testing thirty knowledge without reading.

All they need to Do us to state that They can't read.

I think when you realize that you can take the driving test WITHOUT BEING ABLE READ AT ALL that should scare y'all more. They give people who can't read an audio version of the test with only True and False answers I know this because I volunteered at an adult literacy program and my student got his CDL (yes big 18 wheeler truck driver) without being able to read.

Also, here in Memphis we now have the overhead electronic signs that have vital information on them and they are whole running flashing sentences.

A fair solution would be what I could term &quot;situational English learning&quot;, if you just learn enough to pass the road sign test in both languages. But if I remember the test well, it had scenarios too. I'd have no problem with that part being taken in the person's language as long as they demonstrate they know the right answer.

You know because I feel most people want as little involvement with the law as possible, and maybe people from outside the country would REALLY not want to be involved with police, they might be even better drivers than the normal Memphis drivers, which Magic can tell you, they are NOTORIOUS

Guess what, the newer GPS can read all Those signs and more, to him/her and give him it verbally too.

My Droid can also read it in Spanish .

It also can do di by voice command.

I can tell my Droid where I want to go And it not only take me there, with audio instructions, but do so in a foreign language.

It can even tell me where i am if I am lost too.

There will be Soon be no need to be able to read unless one is involved in the most complex if activities.
