People are genuinely enraged and disgusted because Golding ran on a platform of transparency and good governance. It is more than anger out there - it is a sense of complete betrayal. But from a strictly PR perspective this was so poorly handled it just boggles the mind. I read a blurb from Karl Samuda today that indicates that the JLP is genuinely taken aback by the ferocity of the response from the public. But even the acutely dense could have expected this kind of backlash. If you are going to drop a bombshell like this the correct approach is to leak the information before hand so that people are prepared for it so that when the PM actually stands up and say, &quot;I sanctioned it&quot; it lessens the shock effect. Second Golding's admission should have come with an apology to take some of the sting out of the &quot;It was me&quot; admission.

Jamaica needs new leadership but if Golding steps down it almost certainly means new general elections and then what...Portia Simpson Miller as Prime Minister?!! Not an attractive outcome because both Golding and Simpson Miller are throwback to old style politics. The old guard needs to be washed out to sea...Jamaica needs new wine in new wine skins. Til then we salt mi sey!

Supreme Court judge Roy Jones has called for the United States government to make its voice heard in court proceedings seeking to determine if Minister of Justice Dorothy Lightbourne has the authority to decline the extradition request for West Kingston strongman Christopher 'Dudus' Coke.

Jones made the recommendation yesterday while releasing Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller and Joseph M. Matalon, president of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ), as defendants in the proceedings initiated by Lightbourne, who is also the attorney general.

Lightbourne had initially declined to sign a request to proceed with the extradition of Coke on the grounds that the evidence on which the United States' case is based was acquired illegally.

In court documents, the justice minister contends that she properly exercised her discretion with respect to the extradition request.

&quot;In my view, the party whose legal interests may be affected by the grant of the declaration sought by the minister is the government of the United States of America,&quot; the judge said.

&quot;They (US), however, enjoy sovereign immunity and cannot be named or served to be a party in this matter. The minister says, however, that they have been made aware of these proceedings and can elect whether they wish to intervene in any capacity they so choose.&quot;

<span style="font-weight: bold">Jones ruled that Simpson Miller had no legal interest in the</span> proceedings and should not be a defendant. She had filed an application seeking to be removed as a defendant in the matter.

What Bruce should possibly do (if I had any say.. which I dont)is to hand the reigns over to a Andrew Holness or a Chris Turfton.. prefferable Holness. Then Bruce can move away from a job than many on the inside knew he didnt really want in the first place.
