Where is the conflict Of interest?

Senators are not paid positions .

They are given A stipend.

As a result the are expected to carry on their regular business like regular citizens.

Just recently a government senator represented an opposition Senator.

A week before the Senator That defende the other in court was suspended from the senate by the Senator he successfully defended the week before.

Would That be a conflict in your books??

Starve JLP of funds, NDM tells businesses

General secretary of the National Democratic Movement, Michael Williams, yesterday called on three of Jamaica's most influential organisations to stop giving donations to the ruling Jamaica Labour Party (JLP).

&quot;The PSOJ (Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica), JMA (Jamaica Manufacturers' Associa-tion) and JCC (Jamaica Chamber of Commerce) should starve them of funds because they are not worthy,&quot; an angry Williams told The Gleaner.

Williams said the NDM was devastated by Prime Minister Bruce Golding's decision not to resign after admitting that he gave the go-ahead, in his capacity as party leader, for American law firm Manatt, Phelps &amp; Phillips to represent it in the extradition case of alleged drug baron Christopher 'Dudus' Coke.

Golding made the surprise announcement last Tuesday in Parliament, six weeks after denying the Opposition People's National Party's claim that the Government had contracted the California firm to act on its behalf in extradition talks with United States authorities.

US law-enforcement agencies say Coke is leader of the notorious Shower Posse. They have implicated him in gunrunning and the trafficking of illegal drugs between Jamaica and the US.

During a press conference at the Sandals Grande hotel in Ocho Rios, Foreign Affairs Minister Kenneth Baugh and Commerce Minister Karl Samuda said the JLP's Central Executive cleared the prime minister of inappropriate behaviour.

Williams, who had called for Golding's resignation, said the JLP's stance will hurt Jamaica's image.

&quot;It's going to bring Jamaica in the eyes of the world as a statethat supports donmanship and gangsterism,&quot; Williams said.

<span style="font-weight: bold">Golding was president of the NDM from 1995-2001. He left the party after six years to return to the JLP just ahead of the October 2002 general election.</span>

He succeeded Edward Seaga as JLP president in early 2006.

Police offices have been bombarded by citizens reporting threats on businesses and vital infrastructures.

The Police High Command is advising the public that it is not aware of any such threats at this time and that the crime/security situation in the country in being assessed on a continuous basis.

We are appealing to all to remain calm and not to circulate false information capable of generating panic but to call Police Control at 119 or Senior Duty officers at 978-6462 and 927-7778 to report any such concerns or related information coming to their notice.

We wish to reassure the public that our officers have been deployed and instructed to report all safety and security related concerns for action as well as to respond quickly and appropriately to public calls for assistance.

but if Bruce resigns who wd really step up? If I were in the deputy's shoes I wdn't do it either.

He's between a rock and rock nat eveen a hard place.

the messed up thing is the US will still get Coke and because of Bruce's ineffective strategy in dealin with this the entire country is going to be turned upside down.

JUTC monitors tension Downtown


The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) says its security teams have been informed by the police of the tension in downtown, Kingston <span style="font-weight: bold">and the bus company is looking at implementing contingency measures. </span>
Reginald Allen, the Corporate Communication Manager at the JUTC, says there is no withdrawal of service at this time.

<span style="font-style: italic">Our news centre received reports from some commuters that they are experiencing challenges in receiving transport service from the state owned bus company as well as public passenger operators.</span>

<span style="font-weight: bold">Mr Allen explains that as part of safety regulations at the JUTC, bus drivers are trained to avoid areas where there are reports of violence</span>.

<span style="font-weight: bold">However, he says in this particular case, no official instructions have been issued for a withdrawal of JUTC bus services. </span>
