I am not a historian but I can't recall any US president in recent time doing anything special for Jamaica or any other Caribbean country unless it is in their best interest. Grenada comes to mind.Out of Many One People Online

Re: ..Jamaica for Obama. Obama for Jamaica?
as far as i know jamaica was for obama...
but don't seem like obama for jamaica...
squeezing regular citizens over visas to spite the gov't over one guy does not strike me as being 'for'...
why should obama be for jamaica anyway?
what can jamaica do for america/obama?
we must get it through our heads they see us as little more than a useless speck on the map filled with violence, ganja, dreadlocks and a little fun n sun

Exactly. No real Jamaica/US partnership exists or has ever existed. Partnerships work when the parties involved have something of value to bring to the table. Obama don't care a fig about Jamaica. A US ambassador to Jamaica is yet to be appointed and if the US embassy has to cancel every visitor's visa and green card to get the Dudus matter resolved in their favor they will do it.

Re: ..Jamaica for Obama. Obama for Jamaica?
Jah Youth came closest to the sentiments being expressed in a little group here.
Yow Xavier, while the agrument may be made that no previous president did anything special for the Caribbean or Jamaica (and that may be debatable), no previous president was black, and no previous president received the support of the Jamaican (and Caribbean)people as much as Obama.
Seems Jamaica's relationship is most strained since Obama came into office. Dose the US even have an ambassador in Jamaica anymore?
If no, probably speaks volumes.
