yes its possible but if he was doing it for a role he probably had medical supervision

its possible becauss i dropped about 20 in couple of weeks due to medical condition

<span style="font-style: italic">Losing 50 pounds on the TV show Biggest Loser is often a huge accomplishment – and for 50 Cent it is, too -- but for the rapper and actor, it just doesn't look healthy, no matter his good intentions.

In total, 50 Cent lost more than 50 pounds over only nine weeks, falling from a muscular 214 to a skeleton 160 pounds considering his 6 foot height. He lost the weight—seen in the photo to the right—for a movie role in Things Fall Apart, in which he plays a football player diagnosed with cancer.

Of the photos, “Yeah, they’re absolutely real,” 50 Cent told Rap-Up. He lost the weight by going on a 9-week liquid diet and working out on a treadmill for three hours a day.

The weight loss was no easy task, and he recognizes the health risks. He told Rap-Up:

“After the second week, it was crazy. They say it takes 30 days to make a habit, but man… I was on the Internet and I was looking at Christian Bale, while The Machinist was out, he almost killed himself. I was feeling like maybe I’m overdoing it and I’m dropping 54 pounds, but I was in such a good physical state prior to me deciding to go down on the weight.”

Despite how unhealthy he looks, at least his motivations are close to his heart:

&quot;My motivation for the project was my best friend, Charles Pringle. He lived across the street from me; he actually died of cancer. It’s a serious topic. One out of eight people in the world die of cancer. It tops HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria together. If you’re not actually gonna die of cancer, chances are someone you’re active with in your life is.&quot;

The cast of Things Fall Apart also includes Lynn Whitfield, Mario Van Peebles, and Ray Liotta. 50 Cent is also a co-producer on the film, along with Randall Emmett, his partner in Cheetah Vision Films. For 50 Cent and the sake of his health, let’s hope Things Fall Apart is actually worth watching.</span>

I see he is a co-producer and that explains a lot because I really had to wonder who would hire him for such a serious role.

That's one thing I notice with him. He presents himself very well. He usually leaves the ebonics out when giving an interview.

yah, both he and Ludacris. i'm of the belief that both a them have created a 'street' persona, as a kind of P.R. to hold onto street cred with the rap audience; but have more to themselves than that. cause they both seem very smart, Luda has a business degree -

50 is/was a thug.

He was a drug dealer in NYC, and was shot up badly as a result of his business dealings.

Just googled him...expelled from HS in 10th grade. Finished his GED in jail. Started selling crack at age 12.

Maybe he is just a smart fellow who started out wrong.

I think he grew up with not much positive/parental influence in his formative years. Kudos to him for turning his life around.

true, true, i knew his history. it just seems like he rose above that long ago, got himself educated and has moved on to better endeavors.... but still purposely keepin the thug persona in place on a certain level, to hold onto his cred (and his sales) with a segment of his audience

no get me wrong, i'm not downin him for that, i think it's a good thing. It shows how smart he really is, in spite of his start in life and how he used to be. i gotta admit the first time i saw him chat on a talk show i was really surprised how articulate and thoughtful he is, cause of course from his music and PR i really did think he was nothin more than jus some dumb (but talented) street thug who got lucky. proved THAT judgement wrong dint he?

I started out with the obligatory &quot;no hate&quot; to indicate I don't begrudge him any success he has achieved and because I know how these convos go. I agree with Sistacaf that he certainly does sound like he has good sense, but usually an actor does not write his own lines so that doesn't matter. This could indeed be a good role for him, but not really for flattering reasons but more of a dumb jock &quot;look&quot; thing.

To me, it looks bizarre that his lips never meet, his teeth always show, and that his lips rarely move when he speaks. I find it distracting. He is a millionaire and I am not so obviously his formula is working for him. I have no doubt I will watch the movie, but still I would have chosen a moving mouth actor to play that role.
