They are passing a new law here in Tennessee that will allow schools to randomly drug test students in public schools who participate in extracurricular activities. Current law allows testing only if there is "reason of suspicion." The new law however, will allow random testing without cause.

Additionally, each district statewide may establish it's own policy and consequences....HOWever, the law requires pre-notification to the parent , and the parent can also refuse to have their child tested.

Also there a no consequences prescribed if results are positive.
Quite frankly, I'm confused.

They need to implement that here in Jamaica has well. A guy who is now 27yrs told me that he had started smoking ganja from at the age of 11. He told me that his parents heard about it but they don't know if it is true because he never smoke before them. Now these children are not learning to take their responsibilities as in our days. These children are looking the easy way out and so they turn to drugs or alcohol.

I remember in our days it was anorexia amongst females. Now it is cigarettes, drugs and alcohol. The school authorities should do anything they can to rescue these children because some of their parents don't even care either.
