They are passing a new law here in Tennessee that will allow schools to randomly drug test students in public schools who participate in extracurricular activities. Current law allows testing only if there is "reason of suspicion." The new law however, will allow random testing without cause.
Additionally, each district statewide may establish it's own policy and consequences....HOWever, the law requires pre-notification to the parent , and the parent can also refuse to have their child tested.
Also there a no consequences prescribed if results are positive.
Quite frankly, I'm confused.
