FAMOUS fashionista Anna Wintour, editor of Vogue magazine, is among New York City residents opposing the opening of a Jamaican restaurant in their community.

The New York Daily News reported that Wintour was among about 100 residents who last night voted unanimously against the opening of 'Miss Lily' in the upscale West Village area of Manhattan.

They argue that the fact that the restaurant opens until 2:00 am shows that the owner, nightlife entrepreneur Serge Becker, intends to operate a club on the premises, a claim that his representatives deny.

&quot;This is a unique historic neighborhood. I'm also concerned for the safety of the kids here,&quot; Wintour was quoted by the newspaper as saying.

Has anyone visited a Jamaican Restaurant in NY and seen the people who hang out in the store, outside the store, sometimes playing loud music, as a Jamaican at times I don't want to enter because yu scared yu purse gwen get snatched, don't know what type of Restaurant the proprietor was planning, but opening until 2am does not suggest upscale to me, usually upscale restaurants closes at 11pm..so the residents may have a point, and don't forget the racial factor..and among those $MM town homes

So, because it is a Jamaican themed restaurant safety is a concern? A perfect example of racial profiling! I wonder if she would have objected to a Denny's, which is usually open 24hrs, or is the closing time of 2:00am just a convenient excuse?
