American businessman 64-year-old Philip Martin who is living in Mandeville, Manchester, appeared in the Gun Court today on charges of illegal possession of two firearms.
Acting Supreme Court judge Evan Brown turned down his bail application and ordered him to return to court on July 6.
He is being represented by defence lawyer Linton Walters.
The crown is alleging that on June 4 the police saw Martin in a motor vehicle at Silver Slipper Plaza in Cross Roads, Kingston. He was acting suspicious and the police searched the motor vehicle and found a brown paper bag with a firearm.
The police also searched Martin and a firearm was found in his waist. Martin did not have any licence for the firearms and he was arrested and charged.
