Beenieman cancelled for his homophobic stance

at The Hague's (free) Park Pop's Festival this coming Sunday....(30 year anniversary).

He was supposed to replace Snoop Dog, who already got cancelled for some obscure reason (playing in 3 other towns though! ) - think something to do with the "violent lyrics connected with hip hop culture"....

When they brought in Beenieman as an alternative, the gay organisations were up in arms, so that has been cancelled too...

I personally think it's a great message being put out, discrimination is just that, whoever you direct it against.

It's ridiculous to cancel a concert because of an artiste's &quot;stance&quot;!
Why should thousands of fans be punished, because of a &quot;gay oraganisation&quot;?
Is dem rule the country?

The authorities should adapt a policy where as the artistes can't use bad word or language that would be deemed offensive in that country.
But to outright ban someone based on a &quot;stance&quot; is ridiculous!

So what would beenieman have to do to convince the authorities that his stance has changed?

Really? Substitute the word &quot;gay&quot; for &quot;jewish&quot;, &quot;black&quot; or &quot;muslim&quot; etc. then, there would be an outcry, and rightly so!

And as gays also pay their taxes, which goes towards that festival - cos it's free, therefore paid by taxes at the end of the day, why do they not have the right to protest it?!

Discrimination is just that! Whoever you direct it against, just my 2 cents. We are all God's children.

Anyway, Beenie Man has also been cancelled from Couleur Cafe Festival in Belgium this w/e....

Nicely said Marielle.

If Beenieman is still singing anti-gay stuff or has not recanted his homophobic views then he needs to be banned from performing at whatever venues find him offensive.

Unfortunately this homophobic stance of his strikes a responsive chord with a large segment of Jamaican society which only points out a larger problem.
