Life sucks and shyte happens in relationships. Why should a check be written for half of what one is worth everytime a relationship fails...for whatever reason and regardless of whoever messes up ? Where did this come from ? Yes, children's needs must be met and if it's a woman who was not working then alimony makes sense...until she gets a job.

cause when two people enter into a marriage it is no longer &quot;mine&quot; vs. &quot;yours&quot; -- all assetts are &quot;OURS&quot;. if ppl do not think this way, i.e. if they wanna keep &quot;theirs&quot; to themself, that's not a shared committment, and they should not GET married in a de first place. caase once you in it, <span style="font-style: italic">everything</span> both ppl bring (no matter if one or the other is comparatively more or less) is shared property. thats what a marriage IS. if ppl count each dollar and assign it as 'mine' or 'yours' them don't ha no business gettin married. and worse, if one destroys the marriage with lies, dishonesty, breaking their word and the vow they 'supposedly' gave unto the other- well then they go haf to give up half what they worth, cause half-half is what 'marital assetts' <span style="font-style: italic">means. </span>
