Murder rampage in Westmoreland

Four persons, including a judge’s orderly, were murdered as gunmen went on a robbery spree in Westmoreland late Sunday night into Monday morning.

The first shooting incident began just after 10 o’clock Sunday evening and left Dwayne Taylor, 20, a construction worker, of St. Ann, dead.

Mr. Taylor was sitting at a shop with other patrons in Red Ground, Negril, when men armed with guns and machetes walked in.

They shot him and an elderly man before robbing everyone else in the establishment.

They then went a mini mart next door where they also robbed patrons.

The judge’s orderly was found dead beside his vehicle on a road in Grange Hill close to 2 o’clock Monday morning.

And two hours later, gunmen invaded a shop on Nampriel Road in Negril and shot and killed the owner and a customer before robbing them.

They then escaped on foot.

This is sad news. Prices for basic goods are sky high there.

There are no jobs, well I should say few jobs. The schools there let the 'pickney romp' and the teachers get paid for socializing. My Mother realised it and we moved back to the U and I had fallen behind so far in learning I had a tutor.

There are 2 of my good friends, that got shot in their car in Westmoreland last week. One is in the hospital in Sav, and his wife is worse so they took her to MoBay. They got shot because he has 2 cars, land, cows, and 1 car is a taxi. They were coming in from shopping at Sav. They were robbed and left for dead. They are decent people. 100% Jamaican. Never had the desire to go foriegn. They are in thier 40's.

It used not not happen this much in Westmoreland. Times have changed.

I wonder if they attacked locals, as well as tourists? Does anyone know?

wow! Know Red Ground very well and a few residents there. Have to call to find out if they are a-okay.

If is true since yu didn't source it, then that is not good news. Whatever the circumstances, a mayhem of this magnitude in one locality calls for swift and rigorous action by local and High Command Police... With Westmoreland far from criminal crackdown in Kgn, St Andrew, St Catherine and Clarendon, it seems Gun men there, have decided to &quot;make hay while the sun shines&quot;.

Jamaica is such a small place that any state of emergency to combat gunmen and crime should have covered all of Jamaica. These Criminals had to be known by others in the area and their names should be on a list to turn themselves in... PM Golding and Commish Ellington, have work to do and they should get cracking!!
