<span style="font-size: 14pt">American government is arranged in 3 layers, legislative, judicial and executive (President). These checks and balances are in place so that all work in conjunction. If Black people expected a &quot;Black President&quot; to be a Moses or Messiah, they are in for a rude awakening, the same one the people of Memphis got when they elected Willie Wilbert Herenton their first Black mayor and got an ego maniacal FOOL as Mayor. A President can lead a country down the wrong path (W is proof of that), but it also takes a damn fool Congress and Senate to be in complicity for the circle to be complete, so if it goes well or if it goes badly, there is plenty of praise and blame to go around.

Most all of these actions are long over due, and/or unraveling the W. mess. <span style="font-weight: bold">Obama has accomplished more in his first month then W. did in eight years. </span>Kudos. I like that he's using restraint, his priorities are right, I couldn't be happier with President Obama.

Also, 60 minutes had a fine report on The FDIC. This is an example of how government can and does work, very efficiently. The point was made my the head of FDIC, No bank should be so large that it's failure poses a systemic risk to the entire economy, for the tax payer would have to bail out that bank anyway.

When a bank fails, the FDIC rolls in with eighty people, takes over the bank, continues business as usual, such that customers don't lose a dime, never have, and the access to their money is not altered. Kudos to the FDIC. One issue I have is that banks are sold really cheap to bigger banks, and at this rate we will have very few, giant, banks. That's too dangerous, as we have seen, the FDIC needs to take care that they disperse the gift of all the benefits of a failed bank, (deposits, customers, loans), and keeping all the failure. The FDIC keeps the bank open, and transfers it to a new bank, asap.

Always make sure that if you have more then the FDIC insurance limit in any FDIC insured account, ($250,000, moving back to $100,000 in 2009), to separate accounts, so you will not lose your over $100/25,0000 if your bank fails.

Obama was chosen by the Democrat Party to be its presidential candidate.
The Democrat Party is not, has never been and never will be the instrument of change when it comes to the basic structure of the have and have not economy and the undemocratic way in which candidates for the people's representatives (including Obama) are chosen which is by the parties.

In order for Obama to be chosen he HAD to have be known by those at the top levels of power in the Democrat Party as someone who would not seriously attempt to change the way things are.
In this he is no different from Bush, Clinton, Reagan any of them.
In fact Obama intensified the war on the people of Afghanistan, expanded it into Pakistan, is about to attack and/or invade Iran, continues to support the outlaw rogue state of Israel, is paying big money to the corporations while continuing to not help those out of work and losing their homes.

He plainly is no different from any other president the corporations have put into office

He is not free to do what he might think is right even if he were of a mind to do so.

This may be hard to believe. No one wants to believe this is true but unless you want to get kicked in the bottom every time you elect someone like Obama who LOOKS and SOUNDS like an agent of change you better learn that this is true.

The United States is not run as they teach us in the public schools and even college level courses are often hugely misleading.

That said, you do not have to go through graduate school courses in economics, political science, U.S. foreign policy to get a true understanding of what the reality is. You need only access the web and regularly read a few articles a day at some of the websites that are serious alternatives to the news you get from your TV, radio, news magazines and most of your acquaintances. In fact I suggest completely shutting off those sources of news for a week or ten and just read and listen to the alternatives that I and others suggest so as to start to clean your mind of the rubbish we have all been fed all our lives and to begin to grasp the grim reality such as you've already done with Obama..

I suggest ZNET and the ten or so articles that they reprint each day from around the world, Tomdispatch both the main articles and all the links that they have running down the right side of their website. You needn't read everything on these sites because of the time restraints but just pick out those articles whose subject matter interests you such as theones dealing with Obama.
You should also ask anyone whose posts you think are on the money for their suggestions.
