this is good news

just a tad bit of good news

the damage is long done

and the long term issue of corporate greed is still left to be dealt with

destroying the environment to line their wallets has cost many of their livelihoods...and destroyed natural habitats...

i am not a tree hugger but even stevie wonder could see that if god had wanted us to access what is below the sea then it would have been sitting on top of the earth

yuh si the gulf states did start ratchet down the rhetoric on the extent of the environmental damage.

alla dem running adds suggesting the extent of the damage has been overstated..that the waters are still pristine and the beaches clean

Their common sense should have told them that since the pressure was the problem, they should fix the connection first then worry about containment after.

Instead they panicked and tried to cap it under pressure - in every sense of the word. In this case they allowed the oil to continue flowing while they modified the damaged section. </div></div>

This has always my postion when people condemned BP. Theirs was standard. Frankly I think BP did a more than credible job...in dealing with this spill. I maintain having some contact in the past with them, that they did not intentionally set out to be careless. They have a culture of safety where I had contact with them. At least outside the US . Note US BP was bought by BP and they kept most these people. I ccannot comment on the yankis cause I aint smart enough.. But out side the UK alot of the times their postion far excedds local requirement.

That they had a geologist for a CEO actually is a point against them, who made two insenstive comments... Course the man gets condemns rfor taking his kid sailing!!!

I agree with Shukri Ghamen, head of Libyan NOC...
