I'm not saying Sarah Palin's creative English is deliberate but like Bush's inability or refusal to pronounce "nuculer", it plays right into the audience they attract.
Both attract people of lesser intelligence because they are the types that the Americans with fifth grade reading and speaking levels would rather go have a beer with.
They can relate to them and understand them BECAUSE they are also uncomfortable with polysyllabic words.
As was said in Blazing Saddles about the racist, interbred Johnson families in the film:
"These are simple farmers Bart. The common clay of the New West.
You know.....morons. "
The United States IS a representative republic and who is more representative of morons than morons?
If you do any real thinking about people like Bush and Palin they are very like the everyday people with whom we interact. They are no less or more familiar or unfamiliar with grammar, spelling, context, pronunciation, fear of big words and the people who use them than are most people in the country.
Them is us.
