In my opinion, the reason the original scene made an impression was because of the difference between what we normally see being presented about these areas and what was actually presented.
Usually we get fed a diet of 'someone got shot, fire made 20 homeless, etc' In this case it was the victim's brother playing the hero role, coming to the rescue, and saving the day.
So not only did we get a view that is not normally broadcast, but we add the flamboyant way the young man expressed himself, THEN the auto-tune...
I think that we are so used to seeing the prepared material even on so-called reality shows, that a genuine show of emotion, in an unusual way, has a way of hitting home.
I titled it "Ghetto to di WERL" because I am aware that this is probably a normal way for the poorer class of people to express themselves, but it is not normal for it to generally known - hence the title.
