Nashauna Drummond, Lifestyle Coordinator
At just five feet five inches tall, Renée Rickhi is one of only two women in the Driftwood Gun Club. At the start of the bird-shooting season on August 13, she was 'one of the boys' in 'bird bush' Treasure Beach, St Elizabeth.
How did she get involved? She has her father Alexander Roy Paharsingh, an avid bird shooter to thank, as he used to take her to 'bird bush' as a child. She was again invited to the bush when she began dating her now husband. On those sojourns, she did a different type of 'shooting' as an amateur photographer.
Earlier this year, she came under the tutelage of Khaleel Azan to get her licence. After about three lessons, he invited her to a skeet competitio
They feel it's significant to give back because as Rickhi explains, "it's always been a close-knit group of friends and the 'bird boys' (young boys who collect the birds that are shot), are our friends too."...a wonda who a the bird boys
