It sounds like the pastor in question has decided NOT to carry out the koran burning after all.

Good news in a way and personally, I take it as bad news in a way as well.

Muslims should have the right to build a masque if they want and people have the right to burn copies of the koran if they want. Little by little our freedoms are being eroded.

Not that I agree in any or all of the above but I firmly believe in the freedom for people to do what is within their constitutional rights.

I was listening to a right wing radio show the other day and they had a part of the program when people called in humorous things. This was the call I heard:

In a Middle Eastern accent:

His threatened action was favorably received in many segments of the U.S. populace.

You must always remember that because U.S. foreign policy, imperialism is so brutal and criminal that the leaders of the country always have to lie about what they are doing.

In this particular case I'm not sure if it was the government mouthpieces who promulgated the idea that radical Islamists are out to get us rather than the survivors of U.S atrocities who HAPPEN top be Islamic coming over here to get us back for what we did to them.

It is far easier to get the people of the United States to believe the lie that Islam is behind the hatred of the (government of) United States than it would be to tell them the truth which is the United States has killed over a million people in the Middle East and Western Asia and that these people wouldn't be doing these things if we hadn't messed with them first.


What is happening is called blowback. It means that the U.S. pursues a horrific foreign policy and the survivors of that policy are looking for revenge. What happened on 9/11/2001 is accepted in Washington and at the Pentagon as just part of an imperial foreign policy.
Of course people overseas will be angered when you make their lives impossible and since blowback is to be expected it is much easier for the government to have us believe it is happening because the attackers are religious nuts.
Then they can go and nuke them without fear of being called to account.

Maybe you can't fool all of the people all of the time but enough of the people in the country ll of the time seems to work fine for U.S. imperialism.
