Do you think it would be hard for me to learn the patois language...I understand some of it but how hard do you think it would be to learn it well enough to have a conversation with someone who speaks it...I know it has Central and West African influences...my dad is from nigeria (i'm trying to learn his language too...he wont teach me tho..he say its to hard)and i've been around him all my life and I still have trouble understanding what he says in english sometimes to where i have to ask him to spell it...lol.

Jamaican patwa is not easy to learn, unless you are around Jamaicans all the time. For the most part, it is an oral rather than a written language (though the internet may be changing this.)
There are African influences to some extent on the grammar and vocabulary, yes. But the resistance to acknowledging Jamaican patwa as a language means that the knowledge of how it is similar and where it departs from African languages has not been widely shared.
