CEDRIC Jeffrey was hoping to arrive in London last Friday in time for his son's 14th birthday and to pay a surprise visit to his mother whom he had not seen in a while.
But on Thursday, instead of boarding the Virgin Atlantic Airways flight from Kingston to Gatwick, he was randomly pulled from the line at the Norman Manley International Airport by narcotics officers who requested that his urine be tested for drugs, following which he was handcuffed and taken to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) for his stomach to be x-rayed.
Five hours later, long after his flight had left and the x-ray revealed what he had known all along — that no drugs were in his stomach — he was dropped off close to his home by the police without even the courtesy of an apology.
"When I talk about it I feel angry enough to cry,"<span style="font-weight: bold"> Jeffrey, a British citizen</span> of Jamaican parentage, told the Sunday Observer.
But it was while waiting in line to have his departure form viewed by an immigration officer that Jeffrey said he was again approached by police officers<span style="font-size: 14pt">, among them a Caucasian man who spoke with a British accent, who requested a further search.</span>
This man supposed to be a British subject/Jamaican citizen and look at the treatment he received at the hands of the crown, one cant help but wonder it this was not a black man would he had gotten the same treatment.Just like in the days of overt slavery we have the British Backra massa, ordering the local task masters (in t his case immigration /cops) to crack the whip on black people .THIS BLACK MAN DID NOT DESERVE THIS .But as some of us know, in Jamaica only none black Jamaicans have full constitutional rights and protection<span style="color: #660000">.All black Jamaicans, even if we have foreign passport, should realized that in Jamaica you are just a second class citizen /subject''',tek sleep and mark death.this could be any one of us black Jamaican. </span>
