Re: $50M homes ...shame shame shame shame
A. None of these guys are rich.
B. Both had to get a mortgage
C. Nowhere in the article was it proven that any of the houses value $50m as the headline blared.
D. Like many Jamaicans these men had established family in the USA which why the premises were purchased in the first place.
Even if all the above was false, the fact remain it is prudent to take advantage of investment opportunities as they present themselves.
In the 35 years between 1972 and 2007 Jamaica had not had any sustain growth except or a short period in the 1980s.
Both these men are actual businessmen, with provable earnings in concrete and steel business outside of politics. Audley Shaw suffered the indignity of having one of his business wrested away from him, in public by his erstwhile partners while all of Jamaica cheered them on. I can see why he would make sure at least one member of his family have earnings outside of Jamaica.
Of course facts are not important, rumours make better copy.
