Warner Robins councilman under fire for suggesting black colleague belongs in cotton field
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A Warner Robins City Council member has been asked to consider resigning by the local NAACP after telling a black colleague Monday that he belongs "in a cotton field."
.Councilman Daron Lee, apparently feeling disrespected during a debate, told fellow council members "he wasn’t going to be talked to like he was working in a cotton field." Councilman John Williams responded, "You should be."
Williams, charged with filing a false police report earlier this year, said he regretted any hurt the comment may have caused but didn't apologize for it.
