Scots dont sweeten dem porridge...eeekkkkk..so a friend
who is Scottish is visiting fi di weekend...so mi put awn mi cornmeal porridge n ask him if him want some...him tell mi dat dat is not porridge cause porridge is not yellow...den him ask mi if mi a go sweeten it...wen mi seh yes, him seh dat porridge is not to be sweetened....
so him tell mi di story of bak in the old days of some war fi some King di man who was given di job to feed di army did serve di Scottish fighters dem porridge wid sugar in it and dem mutinied....
mi did go one Jah Love dance bak in HS an go tek fass so nyam so ital corn pone...mi mumah...neva again...unsweetened cornmeal is not fi di feint of heart n mi was juss a beginner dem days

Scots normally use 'rolled oats' for porridge I believe... can be sludgy without brown sugar!
