I just had a conversation of a cancer survivor in remission and he handed me a Times suppliment... on Prostate Cancer.. on bit of information that is in it is that African Carribean men and African American men are three times more likely to die from prostate cancer...

interestingly the carribean has the highest % of prostate cancer among male cancer victim...

Since singer Gregory Isaacs died on Monday, two women have come forward claiming to be his wife. June Isaacs, who lives in Kingston, and London-based Linda Isaacs both say they were the 'Cool Ruler's' number one.

Fifty-year-old June-Anne Isaacs told The Gleaner she and Isaacs were married in December 1983. Though they separated seven years ago, she said they never divorced and she still lives in the matrimonial home.

She said she was aware of her husband and Linda having a business relationship but knows nothing of them being married. Isaacs reportedly died from lung cancer at Linda's home. Stories on his death from the Associated Press and the British Broadcasting Corporation both quoted her as his wife.

June-Anne Isaacs said she last saw Gregory just before he left for London.

&quot;He came by to say he was going to London to have surgery the following week. He called a week later and said he was not going to have the operation again because he was feeling well,&quot; she said.

Isaacs' manager, Copeland Forbes, said he was scheduled to leave Britain for a date in Guadeloupe but his health had deteriorated and he was forced to cancel that gig.

The Big Chill Festival on August 8 was his final performance.

Isaacs declined to say if her husband left a will. However, she said it is highly unlikely he left an estate in disarray.

Aggressive businessman

&quot;He was an aggressive businessman,&quot; she stated. &quot;When it came on to his money he didn't play.&quot;

Isaacs is survived by 12 children and six grandchildren. He and his wife had no children.

According to June-Anne, she met Isaacs in 1981 while shopping for records at Randys store in downtown Kingston. With chart-topping songs like Tune In and Soon Forward, he was one of the hottest singers in Jamaica; she was pursuing a teacher's diploma at Shortwood Teachers' College.

She admitted that his notorious cocaine addiction affected their marriage.

&quot;It caused him to have bad mood swings, things like that,&quot; she said.

Though hard drugs threatened their relationship and his career, she said Gregory remained a focused composer and was a fanatical reader of Mills and Boon romance novels.

When The Gleaner attempted to contact Linda Isaacs yesterday, she was unavailable for comment.

Gregory Isaacs was 60 years old when he died. His body is expected to be flown back to Jamaica for burial.

So true Wahalla .Lost both grand dads to Prostate Cancer... Their brothers died of it too.

Then I had Cousin who is Rastafarian who NEVER stepped into a Doctor's office died at 36 of Prostate cancer

Didnt even know that trevor sparks had passed,...I have an old video with him and nicodemus (passed as well )and junior demus.

Also supercat ( in the video too)was implicated in nitty gritty's death.

Miller didn't die due to the car accident.
Yes I was there that Sunday morning.

He died as a result of police action.
The accident was on hope rd just below trafalgar rd.

They did not call an ambulance.they did not take him to the closest ER. This would be UCHOspital.
They threw him on the floor of the short bed land rover jeep with his heet hanging out and at times hitting the road. And they drove him all the way to KPHospital miles away. Instead of UCH, MEDICAL ASSOCIATES, ANDREWS MEMORIAL OR THE ADventist hospital on hope rd.
In jamaica the lack of appropriate accident and emergency protocols and services is the major cause of death.
That inadequacy cost the country more than a thousand times what they would pay to finance it.

Looks like the most common causes of death were heart problems, cancer or murder.

One that especially hits me hard is Tenor Saw, whose music I loved. That death was brutal &amp; unnecessary....such a loss &amp; only 22 yrs. old.

Another reggae icon, Jacob Miller, gone too soon in a car accident....could have been a really great influence on the youth!

It would be nice to know the causes of death that were unknown or unlisted.....maybe we never will..... </div></div>

WOW... I am gonna I-tune some of these and see what I get....

Did not know that about Garnett Silk.. I think I have all of his music.. not surprised he was trying to help someone. Met him once in Jamaica, as a fan, would have loved to chat.. but he did sign a t-shrt fi mo..

I have a friend who is Jamaican doctor....he said &quot;most Jamaican men do not want to deal with the exam for prostate cancer because it involves penetation of the rectum, so if they have it, it goes unchecked&quot;.....take that as you will.
