was just sharing wid smaddy an experience where as a youth a skull school a deh a helshire, mi see a mob rush a flaming homosexual hombre they caught on the beach.
Mi memba seeing this hombre, polk-a-dot shirt, with the bottom of the shirt tied in a knot to one side onder his arm. ooh and a think polk-a-dot brief to match.. dis hombre a drop some serious knee-lifts over the shallow end a the shore, with a angry mob in close persuit, hurling mostly dried coconut husk and sand (dem couldnt find nuh stones) after him.
As the crowd block off the shallow parts a di shore, he had to go further out into the deeper waters..
Thats when the folklore chips in..
Anybody remember being told by elders that "ba---yman cant guh inna sea water, else dem will sink and drown" ?
thats is "unless dem use cork.." in which case they would "float".
Mi memba watching and anticipating whether he was going to sink or float...
Aside from the "ba---y will sink inna water" or that you hafi put newborns in red to run duppy, or cats will strangle babies, OR if you carry Jackfruit whole (uncut) in your car it will crash and overturn folklores, wonder what are some others from back when..?
