Why do the media continue to report these stories in this manner. Here are retired Air Force vets, not random crazies, talking about their <span style="font-style: italic">personal</span> experiences, not speculation, with UFOs and what do we get from ABC ? Pictures from old science fiction movies and a clip from ET. Now even I am tempted to think, is there a conspiracy here to trivialize these reports in the minds of the public? Choh !

Well RichD, these vets have been predicting that more and more of these incidents will be occurring in the near future and will be covered up (or made into a big joke as this ABC "news" report did):

Hawking is not much of a science fiction fan if he considers Star Trek and Star Wars good science fiction but of course he is correct in thinking that with an infinite universe there mathematically HAS to be other intelligent races out there.
What makes meeting any of them difficult are: the enormous distances between galaxies; the years of travel at the speed of light, the radiation .
Then you have time.
Humanity is a few hundred years from interstellar travel if it is at all possible to get faster than light craft. We as a race have been around a few thousand years.
That's a drop in the bucket of time. A million years wouldn't make us very old as a race. What are the odds of another intelligent race developing AT THE SAME TIME as us? What then are the odds that they would be in any galaxy anywhere near us in the vast cosmos? If they had landed before a few thousand years ago, again a very narrow slot of time in infinity , They would not find very many people nor many signs of an advanced civilization.
If on the other hand, they were fairly advanced technologically and had solved the travel problem and had SEEDED the planet with life and were at all interested in seeing what developed, then yeah, with all those ifs, ands and buts aliens could have visited Earth .
I would say that aliens visiting us is far more likely scenario than the Second Coming but not by much given the constraints of space and time.
What does that guy Hawking know about anything anyway?Comment

I've said this before and I'll say it again.
When the earthly threats (Jews/Communists/Islamists) have died away, we will be told we are being threatened by aliens.
Many of these UFOs are above-top-secret military craft - which of course governments will not want to comment on and the media will make fun of.Comment
