Lots of groups do, Rolli. And at different times in history. And in different parts of the country. I don't think Jamaicans are the only ones. I think you might be too sensitive about this

You could be right ! Mi still noh like the idea of trying to sound like everybody else in a group of other tribespeople in order to get along though and my personal experience is that the Haitian-Americans and Cuban-Americans I come in contact with don't do it. But that's just my personal experience, what can I tell you.

i think they do though u nuh.

i know that in school. the Hatians spoke Creole to each other, English to me and more formal English to the teacher... and my Cuban-American co-workers didn't speak spanglish on formal occasions (ongly English or Spanish then )

this Bahamian guy i was in school with his accent would become more Caribbean when him was talking to me whereas him could sound like pure American when him wanted to.

I said that to a girl that works in my dept a few months ago.

She looks mixed/bi-racial, but have a 'black' last name and sound like a black american..

neva know she was spanish until shi took a personal call an jump into the spanish...

she was born in puerto rico and raised in ablack community in delaware

however i never had a really strong Jamaican accent(dem sey is because a so mandeville people talk)

A use to work at a company where our departement was multi-cultural and multi- accented

It got to the point where our Director would call our meeting UNITED NATIONS meetings. The team consisted of:
* Me - Jamaican
* Guy 1 - British
* Guy 2 - Korean
* Guy 3 - Mexican
* Lady - Canadian (from Quebec)
* Boss - From Tennessee (unu eva hear fi dem accent .. pure joke )
* Director - From DC

So fi wi director always a joke sey im needed translators fi come help im decipher wey everybady a sey ina di meeting. To be honest, I struggled to understand the British guy and it was refreshing to hear the Canadian say things that I am accustomed to in Jamaica. She would say things like &quot;I phoned so and so&quot;

Now my boss from Tennessee would jus crack us up when shi talk.. pure laffing ina dat meeting. When she spoke she had to repeat herself over an over and sllllloowly
