Please don't assume.

Critique means - critique.

Just because you feel all presidents are crooks, etc - doesn't mean we can't have an opinion about them, review them, critique them, compare them, favor them, dislike them, praise them or ridicule them.

I don't think there's hardly a day that passes where someone isn't mentioning the atrocities that Bush committed. Watch the History Channel and you'll often find programs documenting the atrocities perpetuated on the Vietnamese.

Kennedy - please - people talk about this left and right - decades later.

He was a racist scum bag indeed. Unfortunately, in the 70's a lot of people thought and spoke that way. Growing up in Boston I thought it was the norm to stereotype just about every ethnic group.

ETA no, I did not see it.

I moved out of Boston in 2003. I think things had gotten some what better. Some desirable areas were really diverse.

But, in 70's it was CRAZY. There was a lot of racial violence (very tit for tat). The first few non whites that moved in area usually caught HELL. There was white flight to the burbs. Then the last few remaining whites in some areas caught HELL

Some black athletes referred to Boston as "up south"

I never said they were all crooks, did I ?
I said they were murdering s.o.b.s

How can you talk about FAVORING one or another or PRAISING them when they are all guilty of murdering MILLIONS of innocent men, women and children for their oil or whatever it is they have that Sam wants?

What is it about mass murder that you can't grasp?

How can you have any opinion other than that they are the lowest form of life ?

If a gang member went out and shot up a whole family; father, mother kids grandparents for their money, you wouldn't be talking about "having a (different) opinion" of them would you. ?

The words "favor" or "praise" would not come to mind would they?

ALL presidents of the United States order the killing of innocents as a matter of course.

They differ from the gang member only in sheer volume of those they are responsible for killing..
They are no more moral.

But that's only my opinion.
Evidently there are far more who can look past the mountains of the dead bodies to find something humorous or praiseworthy in these men.

Did you know that Hitler ,despite HIS foibles, was a very good dancer and told some very funny jokes?

Re Boston:
Southie (South Boston) where the school integration violence centered now has a sizable gay population and some people of color as this area has gentrified.
Of course the city is broken up into the more prosperous white areas Beacon Hill, Back Bay, South End and the predominantly black and poorer areas (Roxbury, North Dorchester, Mattapan) just as it always has been but there are the integrated border areas of Jamaica Plain, Dorchester, the South End as well.
Racism is alive and well,., It is just not as accepted OPENLY as it once was but there is only a thin veneer of civilized behavior over that deep seated societal racism.

When mom my came to America, New England of all places, was where she first settled. I went to BU and honey - and man o man, what a college experience THAT was!

I grew up in Dorchester and Mattapan . When I left Boston in 2003 there were still "white areas" in Dorchester. They are as bad as Southie. Southie was becoming "gentrified" so may not be as bad as it was in the day. There was some nice mixed areas in Dorchester too.

My back round is Irish Catholic. I grew up hearing stereotypes about just about every one who was not. I do not mean just at home. It was every where. .

My big brother went thru pure hell during those days of busing - not pretty.

Have a look at the video if you've time.

Anyway - like many places in America, some places are welcoming and some others, not. Boston is not alone.

20 years ago = 1990.

I was living in Boston in 1990, just off the Fenway.

We went to Cheers alllll the time.
