Could be substance, could be sour grapes (She has to justify the 2 weeks in Cuba vs Jamaica in her mind I guesssed)..

The &quot;why&quot; lay off the grassroot selling is a matter that if gunmen are invading resorts and shooting people 6 times in their backs.. i dont know if thats a place I myself would want to spend 40 or 80 or 120 hours of my &quot;earned&quot; vacation time, let alone to convince people to go.. I'm seeking to create return visitors.. people who return to Jamaica year after year.. I'd prefer to have them wait out till the authorities get a handle on the crime in teh resorts so that they can have many great return visits than to send them down and have them have a tramatic one time experience..

Well, that's true about the price, and Cuba, which is really cheap in comparison to Jamaica plus there's no crime at all!! (except for petty thieving, don't put your mobile on a surface or you turn round and it's gone!)
Cuba: cocktails 2 euros, pension (casa particulare) 10 - 20, for 5 euros you can hop on/hop off on 3 tourist buses from 9 am to 9 pm, 1 around town - open double decker, 2 to Marina Hemingway, and 3 to the beach at Playas del Este

Will always go to Jamaica too tho, got it into my head to go for Xmas, and the flights alone were 1400+!! but then again, it is high season! (we can go to Mali both of us for that price)!

something is this story just doesn't add up to me...was the objective of the &quot;invasion&quot; to terrorize? The seems to be no logical reason why robbers would expect to find any significant amount of cash at a place like that (dem pay out in cash on pay day?)

I suspect its a case that the manager is involved in some extracurricular activities and his associates when to see him at his place of work. then ten left a message for him

Ya know, I love JA and I too have my own little thing at work where people come ask me where to go eat and what to go see, even though 90 of my co-workers that visit Jamaica go to Sandals or Breezes etc... .

I just booked my two week winter vacation yesterday and I came close to booking a bed and breakfast in Port Antonio. However, when all was said and done I booked Cuba instead. It is approx 40% less expensive than a similar stay in Jamaica. The Cuban beer is good, the rum is fine (love my mojitos) and as a cigar smoker, I am in heaven in Cuba.

Honestly, apart from checking in on family, the food and the music (mostly the food ), my desire to return to Jamaica is diminished more and more each day. It's almost like the tipping point has been reached and Jamaica is no longer where I see myself. </div></div>

anyway the other night on world news them announce that crime in the Caribbean was up, and that cruise ships were reconsidering certain islands, suh mi a brace miself fi see where ja stand, but they didn't make the story.

Antiuga, st kitts and the bahamas was the focus (if I remember correctly)

A teen girl took a taxi trying to get back to her hotel, the driver carry her guh a one yard where him and mussie 2 others raped her.

Mi a guh see if mi can find the segment, a think is last week it came on

I had to remain near the lobby with a view from the pool area on the area leading from the stage to the lobby, worrying that my mother and sister would be running through that area. I could not see the gunmen fleeing the scene, but heard no more gunfire. Upon finding my mother and sister shortly after running toward the beach, We all fleed to our rooms and found my stepfather along the way. When we returned to our rooms we found our alcove door closed and blocked. When we pushed hard on the door, two hotel &quot;security guards&quot; (one in street clothes) opened up the door and were hiding from the situation and talking on cell phones trying to find out information. We allowed them to remain in the alcove providing they keep us apprised of the situation, but they wouldn't tell us anything and then left. [OGNR] The resort was shut down for the night, and the front desk told people there would be a meeting in the morning to inform everyone of the situation/investigation. No such meeting happened and the front desk was reluctant to talk about anything with anyone. Reports of the hotel worker being shot several times lead me to believe the long gun was a shotgun, as only one shot was fired towards employees. Also reports of the person being an ex-hotel employee with a grudge seem unlikely due to the fact that his hair was quite long and not one male working at the hotel has long hair of any sort. <span style="font-weight: bold">I don't feel threatened by the incident, and plan on returning to Negril,</span> however, unfortunately my family will not be returning to Jamaica at all.
