Why is the President of the US taking the time to involve himself in such trivial matters that involve misconduct of players of the NFL? What makes Vick so special to warrent such attention?

The president should be worrying about more pressing matters such as the economy and his terrible health care reform.</span>

Being apart of an American tradition that involves throwing out the Ceremonial First Pitch is as American as apple pie. I like traditions as do most Americans.
I don't think it's appropiate for Government(any branch) to be involved in sports misconduct, such as the steroid controversy (congressional) or calling the owner of a professional football team to voice his (Obama) opinion as head of state (executive). His opinion as President is influential. It's not what the Government should be doing. It reeks of meddling.

A Government should govern and that's it. IMHO

Vick was convicted of transporting dogs over state lines for (gambling) dogfighting. Vick was charged with competitive dogfighting and conducting the venture across state lines which is a Federal offense.
