i have been charged wid booking a vacation fi three frenz in the Maritimes...dem seh mi ha free time ...so before mi find out wen dem can clear dem calendar at the said time, who has vacationed dere n where do u suggest...cost is not an option (dem can afford it) so mi need places weh dem can kick bak an chat n laff n carry awn (all Jcan females ..schoolmates from way bak)

the Maritimes includes several provinces if memory serves mi right so dat is y mi a ask di longtime Canadians....

The Colored Hockey League of Maritimes in Nova Scotia was formed in 1894 across the provinces of Canada 22 years before the National Hockey League</span>. The first all-black ice hockey league held over a dozen teams and employed over 400 African-Canadian players. The men were typically natives from the Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island areas. The league was especially surprising amid the stereotypical beliefs of whites that blacks couldn’t endure cold climates or that blacks didn’t have ankles strong enough to ice skate.

Before the Colored Hockey League, the white leagues played in a primitive, gentle manor. The CHL transformed the game into a fast-paced competition. It was formed by Baptist ministers and church administrators who were the sons and grandsons of runaway slaves.

The league consisted of teams such as the Dartmouth Jubilees, the Halifax Eurekas, the Truro Sheiks and the AfricVille Brown Bombers. The Colored Hockey League would use the teachings of Booker T. Washington, the Bible and speech resources from the Underground Railroad in their gamebooks and strategies.

Many hockey firsts were said to have come from the Colored Hockey League. For instance, the practice of allowing the goalie to use their feet to cover a puck was said to have come from the Colored League in 1900. League games were also said to have been the setting for the first time a player - Eddie Martin - used the slapshot. Unfortunately, <span style="font-weight: bold">the contributions of the CHL were ignored and copied by white leagues, who took credit for many of the game-changing elements</span>.

The CHL would eventually dissolve due to racism and discrimination against the league, amid fears that blacks that had grown in power through sport. <span style="font-weight: bold">There is little reference to the Colored Hockey League in any Canadian hockey archives.</span>

what time of year u looking? summer?

pei have red dirt like jamaica. newfoundland have colonial ties with jamaica - we gave them sugar and white rum, they gave us saltfish. new brunswick supply all the sardines ppl eat a jamaica.

i was looking to see if there's any historical sites related to the jamaican maroons landing in nova scotia in 1796 but no success yet.

thanks...i would think so...one party coming up from Ja an she was juss here fi di weekend so mi no tink she gwine to want to repeat in winter...the other two r in Canada...but fi some reason dem want the Maritimes....n not fi me fi reason y but to do as asked given 'mi ha nutten else fi do'....u cannot turn down a request like dat , dont ah sah...but it will gi mi someting to do fi real...

u see how dem a tek libatty wid mi star...but i just had a brainstorm...a train trip thru the Maritimes....mek mi go see if dem ha dat one...mi know sem ha train trips in certain places...i wanted to tek one lass year but missed the time dem run it...i ammm soooo brilliant....
