Michele took all his money after they divorced. There is over a billion in aid floating around Port Au Prince in various places.
With baby doc now on the island, the extremely slim chance that a few Haitian people had of ever benefiting form that aid is now zero.

AT LAST!!!
Someone the United States can work with as an equal. A kleptocrat (politician who steals a nation's wealth), a killer, a torturer.
It doesn't get any better than this . Too bad Batista died before Fidel lost power or he too could stage a triumphant return to Cuba .
They had better get one of those skids of cash flown back from Afghanistan for baby Doc so he can rebuild a few palaces and rearm the Tonton Macoutes and get back to the way things are supposed to be in Haiti.
As for the money he stole, the poor Swiss just can't find a way to get it back to the people of Haiti much like a lot of the money they would not release that Jews deposited when fleeing the Nazis.

Re: an so it stawts..even while saying Baby wont say y
Back in 1960-61 the cubans tried to ais the over throwing Papa Doc at the behest of local communist... That was the first attempt at internationalism predating the congo, venezuela, panama or Bolivia Focas...Papa Doc was the original black heart man.. vo-dun science...
Still there is devil and the deep...
Baby doc has a chance of being President again..
bring back the priest would be a good strategy...
Once more I am vidicated... I have always the stated aid has to be assesed through the local structures no matter how flawed. And aid is not a development stretegy.. Based on my expereince with out available video or google search...
NGO with the coroportation of the UN has done is by pass the ministries, army and local NGO's...the UN admitted that they undermined the local institutions in attempt to by pass corrupt practices...They now admit that this is a falure... see Channel 4...
The rule of law is dead in Haiti at the moment.. Democrasy cannot work without the rule of law... not justice.. the rule of "law".. Neither can it be introduced into Somalia....

Re: an so it stawts..even while saying Baby wont say y
Most forms of aid is imperialistic and dependency forming, unjust laws are no help....bring back Aristide and Lavalas. Only a strong Africa can help Haiti, no European or Western country will do it Justice.
Like what happened to the first truly free black ruled country in the West, the neo colonialist wants Haiti to be destroyed and disappeared from history.

I agree.
The objective of 'aid' is to put poor countries in debt to the IMF and World Bank, who will in turn enable their corporate friends to take the mineral wealth that the country has and the corporates wanted in the first place.

" Democrasy cannot work without the rule of law.."
That would depend on how you define democracy.
Democracy is defined as "rule by the people".
Under multi-party "democracies" (the kind of electoral systems in most "democracies"
the parties choose the candidates, not the people.
The people elect those chosen for them and then those chosen do what the party hierarchy and those with the wealth who bribe them tell them to do.
If those elected people don't do what the party/wealthy want and NOT what the people want they do not hold office very long.
In most poor countries rule by the rich and powerful is certainly not democratic and the economic form known as capitalism is totalitarian by nature.
The accuracy of language and terms is very important and the word "democracy" should not be used where it obviously does not apply.
