An Atlanta father rescued 13 children from an apartment fire yesterday morning. I don’t know exactly how many children he and his wife had, but they were having a sleepover and the children ranged in age from 1 to 13. One of the nephews smelled smoke and the husband bust out a window, threw a mattress to the ground, and got every one of them out of the second floor. He wrapped himself in wet sheets, jumped down with the youngest ones, and kept running back in from bedroom to bedroom to get the rest out. Only two got injured and they were older ones (broken arms for both). When the fireman got there, he had already cleared the apartment of people.

Now I’m not saying that you have to risk your life to be a good man. Hopefully, you or your mate never find yourselves in a crisis where it ever comes up. However, I must say that everybody isn’t going to risk their lives to save you, your children, nor somebody else’s children. If I could never have a man like that of my own, I would at least hope that if my children (non-existent though they may be) spent the night away from home that that type of man would be in the house.
