The Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority says a team has started a preliminary investigation into an incident at the Ian Fleming International Airport in which an aircraft was hampered at takeoff.
It says a report will be prepared and submitted to the Transport and Works Ministry.
Yesterday, a private jet bound for Maryland in the United States failed to lift off after a wheel of the plane fell into a hole on the runway at the St. Mary airport.
This grounded the plane for almost two hours.
The Airports Authority says a technical team had to undertake urgent repair work to the runway of the airport to fix the defect to the surface.
Vice President of Marketing and Commercial at the Airports Authority, Mark Williams, says the necessary assistance was rendered to the aircraft and the pilot.
