This has to be the ULTIMATE baby mama drama!

The missing NY baby that was found last month ...

So now she's gone back to Atlanta to the family that she grew up with. The birth mother was on the Today show this morning explaining that the daughter left NY 2 days after their reunion and since then, there's been deep tension.

Ok - that part I get - it's even expected, The daughter is dealing with much confusion and anxiety, etc, etc.

Here's the kicker - the birth mother and father said that the rift has been over the money. The daughter told the parents that she's not going to do any more interviews unless she gets paid.

EVEN MORE! there was a lawsuit filed by the parents against the hospital ...

The parents got a large settlement and it was put in a trust for the daughter, if she were to be found by the age of 21.

The daughter (now 23) wants to know what happened to the money and why she hasn't seen any of it.

The mother told Meredith Viera, on the show this morning, that the money is gone - there's no more left.

She explained that they spent it all - times were tough. $250,000.

I can't recall if the trust fund was $250k or $160k but it's all gone.

Worse - there's another $10k that the daughter wants to know about and why she hasn't gotten any. The $10k was some reward money.

$100,000 today is a lot of money if invested wisely. $250,000 23 years ago would have been a heck of a lot of money today if invested wisely.

mi can juss imagine the gucci suit, high top runners, stereo and cadillac they spent the money on ... and still live eena rental housing

I guess you're right in a way.

I was hoping that finding her natural parents would had been enough of, or least, the beginning of, a balm in her life, but I guess I was wrong.

The daughter is 23.

They kept the money in trust until the age of 21.

That's just 2 years they took to run through that money.

these stories never end up good. it also happens with birth mothers a la oprah's sister, et al.

I watched it this morning and honestly I thought the girl was raised by criminals so that is why she behaving that way. I don't see how money come into this any at all. The parents didn't have to put a cent in a trust fund for her, but they did for 21 years, and I don't care if they spent it in a day after the 21 years was up, it was theirs to spend at that time, why is money what you are concerned about? It was just sad. The mother can get closure that she knows what happen to her, but she need to make her come around in her own time.

it's not just about the money. but after 21 years without seeing the girl, they're strangers. just like the ted williams dude and his daughter. they have different values obviously.

i don't know all the facets of the story other than what's been posted on here, but i would be interested to know how they got in touch with each other.

what i got was that the girl didn't want to be trotted out for any more media interviews without getting paid. i'm not assuming being paid by the birth parents.

anyway, $250,000 is still a lot of money to blow

She &quot;found&quot; herself, she was kidnapped as a baby and figured it out, got it in contact with the authorities and her birth parents, did DNA test and she is their long lost child. The woman who stole/raised her is in custody.

I agree that they are strangers and that there is a honeymoon period and then reality sets it. For example I thought it was unreasonable for the parents to want her to move to be near them when she doesn't know them and have a life in another state. But 6 weeks into it for money to be what is keeping you apart seems a hard pill to swallow, you need like one year before money mash up yu relationship!

I would more understand a disagreement over prosecuting the tiefing mother and divided loyalties but it just sounded like, where is my money? Oh you spent it? See yah!

wouldn't there be a statute of limitation?

i don't think they should prosecute the teefing mother unless the girl was abused or hurt in some way.

i can actually see that woman's pain.

kidnapping, once she was taken across state lines became a federal kidnappimg charge. no statute of limitations.

No winners here really, but at least the birth mother can be at peace knowing the daughter is alive and well.
